The first day of school began with scenes of a brawl for 73 first-graders in North Rhine-Westphalia: When they were enrolled in Kamen, seven people suddenly began to attack each other with poles. Three people were injured in the fight, the police said.
The trigger for the violence in the gymnasium of the primary school should therefore have been a dispute over photos of two hostile families. "Someone probably took a picture that did not suit others," a police spokeswoman said.
When officials arrived, the argument was already over. The three injured were hospitalized. The authorities initiated criminal proceedings for dangerous bodily harm.
