(CNN Spanish) - From next weekend will be limited and alcohol entry to the trajineras of Xochimilco, in Mexico. This was announced by the mayor of this town on Monday.
The new measures will allow the entry of a maximum of 1 liter of alcohol per trajinera or up to 3 beers of 250 ml per person. The decision of the local authorities comes 24 hours after a young man died after falling from one of the drunk boats.

Juan Carlos Acosta, Mayor Xochimilco, also said that the sale of micheladas inside the tourist channel will be prohibited.
Likewise, as of October 1, all those who ride these colorful boats must wear life jackets and those who do not want to wear them must sign a note disregarding all responsibilities.
Those who drive the trajineras better known as "rowers" must pass an anti-doping test and also take swimming and first aid classes. These courses will be funded and offered by the General Directorate of Tourism
