China says it has developed a new hunting drone that can deactivate other drones, or even small planes, firing a network of 16 square meters (172 square feet) over them.

"Trapped by the web, the hostile drone should lose power and fall to the ground," said a report on the English-language website of the Chinese army.

Developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, the drone can work alone, but it can also be integrated with China's defense system for small, slow and low-flying targets, according to the report.

The hexacopter drone can also perform surveillance and reconnaissance, he said.

This is the second drone advance announced by China in recent weeks. At an air show in Russia in August, China showed the stealth-capable LJ-I, an attack / defense drone that, it says, will help the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLA) to prepare for any possible combat with the stealth fighters F-35 deployed by the US. UU. and its partners in the pacific.

Designed for shooting practices, the LJ-I can fly in formations to simulate real combat conditions, according to the state-sponsored Global Times report.

A video played on the air show showed a Chinese bomber releasing several of the LJ-I drones, which then simulated an attack on a destroyer of the PLA Navy.

"The destroyer was able to detect the drones with its radar system even though they were stealthy, launched missiles to destroy those coming from above and fired a nearby weapon to shoot down one that touched the surface of the sea," said a Global report Times

China is a world leader in drone technology, especially the smallest and low-cost ones, a fact recently recognized by the Pentagon when it established a program to search for investors to make American counterparts.
