Ahmed Tanb, general manager of the General Company for Steel and Steel Products in Hama said that the company's sales since the beginning of this year until August last amounted to 9 billion and 362 million pounds.
The sales included 1,765 tons of brominated iron and 29,864 tons of billet, which is the raw material for the production of construction steel, in addition to 52 tons of steel forgings, while production reached 25,765 tons of billet and 52 tons of steel forgings, he said.
Tanb said that the company markets its production of billet (raw material in the manufacture of iron bars) through rolling companies with the private sector in accordance with the decisions of the Administrative Committee and the Pricing Committee and according to the date and sequence of subscription on the article, pointing out that the price per ton of billet is currently 318 thousand Syrian pounds Without tax charges.
Regarding the production and marketing difficulties and challenges facing the company, the engineer explained that the crisis of securing the scrap material for the smelting plant started to witness a relative breakthrough following the signing of contracts to secure it through the Syrian scrap company by 4000 tons per month from private sector establishments in addition to the public sector scrap. The smelter operates around the clock after the necessary electrical power has been secured.
Regarding future plans and proposals to develop the work, Tanbab revealed that the company is currently developing the iron bars production plant through the establishment of modern lines for the production of brominated and industrial iron through specialized Russian companies in this regard. Added productivity and increase in financial revenue.
