The Government of Paraguay enacted the Penitentiary Emergency Law that will govern for one year and that will allow the budget of the Ministry of Justice to be expanded with approximately US $ 2,000,000. The additional money, according to the authorities, will be used to hire new prison guards to impose order and security within prisons, following a wave of riots and crimes of persons deprived of their liberty.
