The area of ​​land planted with summer vegetables in Daraa increased during the current agricultural season from last season more than four thousand hectares to reach 7394 hectares, compared with the previous season 3221 hectares, according to the Directorate of Agriculture in the province.

Saleh Al-Miqdad, head of the planning department at the Directorate, told SANA that the area planted with tomatoes in the current season reached 4 thousand hectares for the summer loop amid expectations of producing 470 thousand tons compared to planting 1450 hectares last season and producing 186 thousand tons.

Al-Miqdad said that the area planted with irrigated summer vegetables rose from 1,026 hectares last season to 2245 hectares for the current season, noting that the farmers of the province planted in this season about 1915 hectares with crops of watermelon red, yellow, tobacco and onions compared to 745 hectares last season.
