Engineer Khamis to the members of the Syrian Pharmacists Syndicate: The need to upgrade the pharmaceutical sector and develop the reality of the profession

Prime Minister Eng. Imad Khamis's meeting with the chairman and members of the Syrian Pharmacists Syndicate Council, headed by Dr. Wafa Keshi, focused on the role of the Syndicate in developing the pharmaceutical sector and upgrading the reality of the profession and creating a special investment entity to improve the conditions of its members and the need for the geographical distribution of pharmacies according to methodological and legal frameworks.

It was stressed during the meeting the need for the union to organize training courses and workshops to raise the level of performance of its members in all governorates, in addition to providing research and studies to the ministries of higher education and health on the reality of drug policies and development and evaluation of educational curricula in colleges of pharmacy in universities.

Engineer Khamis explained the importance of the union's role in the continuous development of the pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical industries sector in coordination with the joint committee in the Ministry of Health, noting the steadfastness of the pharmaceutical sector during the war years.

In response to the proposals, Eng. Khamis agreed to the syndicate to invest the laboratory and analysis building in Dimas area of ​​Damascus countryside in partnership with the Ministry of Health.

The proposals focused on the need to amend the law of the union organization and provide more job opportunities for graduates of the faculties of pharmacy in industrial establishments, raise the value of full-time compensation and accelerate the issuance of the Medical Cities Law.

For his part, Dr. Nazar Yazji, Minister of Health that the value of cancer and chronic medicines and vaccines during 2018 amounted to 117 billion pounds and has been signed so far 87 percent of the value of contracts to lease these drugs for the current year.

The meeting was attended by Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Dr. Qais Khidr.
