(CNN) - The New York Police Department is investigating jewelry thefts valued at more than US $ 350,000 from the Trump Tower in Manhattan.
In one case, the victim told police he had been away from the skyscraper on 5th Avenue from June 21 to September 9. Upon returning, he discovered that he had “removed or stolen US $ 236,000 of jewelry; they weren't there anymore, ”said police sergeant Lee Jones.
In the second case, the victim was out from September 4 to 10 and reported that he was missing jewelry worth US $ 117,000 on September 11.
There have been no arrests. Both cases have been reported as major theft, and investigations are ongoing.
None of the police reports indicated that there was forced entry, a police spokesman told The New York Times .
Investigations occur at a time when President Donald Trump stayed in his namesake building on Sunday night before several days of United Nations meetings. He is expected to stay there again on Monday night, according to his public calendar.
A spokesman for the Secret Service sent CNN's questions about whether they were helping with the investigation to the New York Police Department.
Jonathan Wackrow, former Secret Service agent and CNN contributor, said there was a "shame factor" for the Secret Service that the incident should occur. Still, he said the apparent robberies raise concerns about an internal threat in Trump Tower, which is a property permanently protected by the Secret Service.
Eric Levenson and Betsy Klein of CNN contributed to this report.
