Above a mountain hill and at an altitude of more than 900 meters above sea level, the village of Birchin is a picturesque mountain nature which covers its trees of varied rice, oaks, oak and pine terraces and slopes over an area of more than 500 acres and covered with a charming suit of greenery, making it a tourist village par excellence.
The head of the town council, Eng. Fadi Semaan, explained to Sanaa Tourism and Society that Birshin is located in the western region of Hama governorate and is famous for its many fresh springs that exceed 30 spring springs, most of which are exuded from limestone rocks in the mountains adjacent to the village.
He pointed out that the village is characterized by the cultivation of fruit trees and the most important crops are apples, grapes, peaches and apricots.
Suhail Tohmeh, owner of the restaurant, said: “Barsheen is an attractive natural resort for visitors from different governorates, while Ragheb Khalil from the villagers pointed out the availability of the basic tourism elements in the village.” The most important landmarks of his village are the Church of St. George which dates back to 1889 and the monasteries such as the shrine of Our Lady, Mount of the Cross and the Monastery of Our Lady of the Jungle.
