Latakia Textile Company is one of the public sector companies that have intensified their efforts recently to mitigate the negative effects of the war and the unfair economic siege that affected most sectors of life and economy, where it succeeded in supplying the local market with its needs of raw cotton fabrics mixed with multiple specifications and compensate part of the losses incurred by the interruption Foreign export operations.
Engineer Harith Makhlouf, director of the company, said in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the total production of raw cotton fabrics increased by 543 thousand linear meters compared to the same period last year and by a growth rate of 128 percent, which amounted from the beginning of the year until the end of last August, about 2,556 million meters.
Makhlouf said that the amount of sales in the same period amounted to 2.212 million linear meters worth 996 million pounds and an increase of 1.338 million linear meters over the same period last year and the rate of development 253 percent, noting the efforts made by workers and technical cadres by harnessing their energies around the clock.
According to Makhlouf, the company has two production lines and produces high quality fabrics that are competitive inside and outside. Production depends on electronic control with high specifications under the supervision of quality experts to monitor the performance of machines. The company is currently in the process of signing a contract to replace the old loom line with a production line of jeans fabrics with a production capacity of 10 million linear meters. Each year, the project provides about 400 jobs.
The number of machines produced in the company is 58 machines and the number of workers about 700 workers.
