Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the double standards used by some countries complicate the fight against terrorism, calling on the international community and international organizations to unite their efforts in this regard.

Speaking at a UN Security Council session today on the UN Partnership with Regional Anti-Terrorism Organizations, Lavrov referred to President Vladimir Putin's 2015 counter-terrorism initiative based on the UN Charter and international law without any politicization or preconditions.

Lavrov said international counterterrorism organizations have a long history of fighting terrorism, stressing the need to continue their work to maintain international peace and security, while expressing concern about the influx of foreign terrorists into Central Asia and the recruitment of people by various terrorist organizations in the region, especially those associated with ISIS.

Lavrov noted the important role of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which has focused on national security and counter-terrorism since 2000 and cooperates with UN counter-terrorism committees, and the SCO's endeavor to ensure security and stability in the region by combating extremism and terrorism.

Lavrov pointed out that the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which was founded in 2002 and includes Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan seeks to combat involvement in terrorist activities, including combating ideology and address the return of terrorists from the areas of terrorism to their countries of origin, pointing to the organization's efforts to stop networks Movement of terrorists through the use of social media.
