(CNN) - The president of the United States, Donald Trump, was preparing for a full day of meetings with foreign leaders when he paused to make a call to the president of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, on Tuesday.
The call for political trial by his bank had intensified, and Trump hoped to calm things down by talking directly to her.
The two discussed how the White House was blocking the complaint of the congress whistleblower, and it is unclear how that conversation ended.

A short time later, Trump made the decision to publish an unedited version of the transcript of his call to the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski. The president had been listening to his advisors and legislators about why he should not reveal it, but Trump wanted to undermine the argument of the Democrats that he acted inappropriately on that call, the source said.
When that announcement didn't really change his mind, Trump told people he couldn't believe it.
While Trump was publicly challenged after Pelosi's announcement that he was initiating a formal political trial investigation, he made it clear in private that he does not agree to give this fight.
He and his advisors are preparing to respond and will argue that the Democrats have overreached.
