(CNN Spanish) - Hispanic Heritage in the United States begins this month, which seeks to celebrate and recognize the contributions that Hispanics have made to the culture in that country. In CNN Pop Zone we do not want to be left behind and we want to pay a small tribute to those who have put the name of Latin America on high.

We started with the Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio, who from Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca - south of the Mixtec region -, rose to fame for her work on the autobiographical film by Alfonso Cuarón “Roma”, the Oscar-winning film in the category of "Best foreign film" and with which he also got a nomination in the category "Best actress".

Earlier this month, Aparicio made headlines because he attended one of the most anticipated catwalks of the New York Fashion Week, Michael Kors, and sat in the front row with leading actresses such as Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson.

We talked with the actress in Mexico City, in a relaxed atmosphere, since the main objective was to know her a little more personally and, above all, to know what happened to her after the hurricane of emotions, comments and activities in which has been seen since the most important ceremony of the film industry.

Pop Zone: Yalitza, it's been several months since it was the Oscar ceremony, what happened to you?

Yalitza Aparicio: “We have been in different activities, something very important that I discovered when being here is that the fact of being in front of a screen helps you motivate more people, so it was a decision not to miss this. There are people who also need this support that I may not be able to say directly 'come and feel like it, yes you can', but at least they see something like that on the screen ”.

Pop Zone: You were a guest on the panel of the “We All Grow Latina” event, and one of the young women gave you a few words. What do you feel about someone else telling you what you stand for and telling you from the heart?

Yalitza Aparicio: “That time I did not get homesick, one of the girls who came up and said 'you don't understand the change you've made, right? No, it is not only that you demonstrated that you were capable of, but that it showed us that we are also capable of doing so, that if we look for opportunities we will find them. ' And I was a little surprised. You get the nostalgia of saying that it was not a change just for me, it was a change for those who are seeing you and for what they are motivating you. ”

Since her jump to stardom, the actress has met artists such as Glenn Close, Lady Gaga, Diego Luna, Charlize Theron, among others, but there is one in particular who needs to know.

"I still have to meet Will Smith, I love that man since the movie he made, 'In search of happiness.' It is wonderful to get to know the artists because you take that image you have of their characters out of their minds and only that, you also know them as human beings and how kind they are, ”says the one who was a preschool teacher.

Yalitza Aparicio confesses that having seen the show “Luzia” of Cirque du Soleil in which several Mexicans work and who leads the baton of history, the Mexican Majo Cornejo, was a great emotion, since he shares with them the success of demonstrating of what Mexicans are capable of.

“I was texting with a person, because I was going to get there and I didn't know who I was. Until suddenly he said 'I'm Majo', and me Majo? Yes I had read who were in the circus, but nothing more. I enjoyed the show and when I met her it was saying wow! And I said, 'don't invent!' That great emotion of seeing your people succeed in different areas, not only in one, but in many and that are abroad breaking the spine and teaching, so we are Mexicans and that is indescribable, ”said the actress.

Yesterday I met Yalitza Aparicio, when I saw a picture of her in NYC I contacted Eugenio Caballero who was the art designer of LÚZIA and @romacuaron. He contacted us, and I have to confess that I was very surprised that she agreed to come! It's Yalitza Aparicio! 😱😍 So yesterday he came to the show, step backstage. I wait for us to remove make-up, take the subway (it was amazing to see how people recognized her and asked for photos) and we went to dinner arepas. They do not know that night. She is a unique, simple, super charismatic and wow person! I really have no words! Every artist in the world should be like her. Thank you for inspiring me so much! @yalitzaapariciomtz ♥ ️ #yalitzaaparicio #luzia #cirquedusoleil @cirquedusoleil #nyc #newyork
