New Delhi-Sana
Syria and India signed a memorandum of understanding to reactivate the Syrian-Indian Center of Excellence in Information Technology in Damascus within the framework of enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries in the technology and information technology sector.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Indian side by Indian Deputy Minister for External Affairs TS Tremurti and Syrian Ambassador to India Dr. Riyad Abbas.
Abbas stressed the importance of signing this memorandum and reopening this center, especially after the return of security and stability to Syria throughout the country thanks to the sacrifices and steadfastness of its people and army.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian Indian Center of Excellence was opened at the end of 2010 with the aim of providing the latest software and tools to train and qualify national cadres working in the field of information technology and began training in February 2011 and then stopped because of the unjust terrorist war imposed on Syria.
The idea of launching this project came during the visit of President Bashar al-Assad to India in 2008, where a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Syrian government represented by the Ministry of Communications and Technology and the Indian government represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to establish an advanced IT training center in Damascus.
