The Directorate of Agriculture of Sweida has set the twentieth of this month as the date for starting the work of olive presses in the governorate and receiving the crop for the current season.
The Director of Agriculture, Ayham Hamed, told SANA that the directorate has circulated to the owners of the existing mills in the governorate to equip them a week before the scheduled date of its work to ensure the receipt of the crop from farmers as required.
The total area planted with olive trees in the province is 9896 hectares and the total number of trees is one million five hundred and sixty thousand trees, of which the fruit constitutes one million three hundred and sixteen thousand trees.
