In Peru, Mercedes Aráoz decided to step aside and on Tuesday he presented his irrevocable resignation to the position of vice president in the hope that his decision will contribute to resolving the political crisis that shakes the country. With this decision, Aráoz also resigns the position of acting president on the grounds that the constitutional order in Peru has been broken and that he hopes that his decision will lead to a call for general elections.
