Beirut-Sana
Lebanese President General Michel Aoun has confirmed that Lebanon has suffered and suffered from mines and explosives planted by the Israeli enemy in its territory.
Aoun, during a meeting with Special Envoy of the Ottawa treaty banning anti-personnel mines Princess Astrid, sister of the Belgian King, said today that Lebanon is unfortunately near the Israeli enemy who makes and uses mines without any deterrence during its attacks on Lebanese territory as happened during the July 2006 war. All the borders with occupied Palestine were planted along with cluster bombs, and he wondered: What will you do with the Israeli enemy in this area?
Aoun pointed out that Lebanon is not opposed to joining the Ottawa treaty banning anti-personnel mines, especially since it applies all its provisions and is striving to clean up its land.
Princess Astrid briefed President Aoun on the framework of the treaty, pointing out that it is at the heart of her mission to work on demining from all over the world, warning of the danger of this blind weapon that kills and injures thousands, limits the economic and social development of countries and stands a barrier to the return of displaced people to their countries after the end of wars. .
