Russian private security agencies and law enforcement agencies have thwarted terrorist attacks in four central cities this year, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said today.
In the first eight months of this year, planned terrorist acts were foiled in the cities of Tula, Vladimir, Tambov and Voronezh, in addition to the arrest of 152 people involved in terrorist acts in the Central Federal District, Sputnik news agency quoted Patrushev as saying at a security meeting in the Tula Federal District. .
The head of the General Directorate of Combating Extremism in the Russian Interior Ministry Oleg Elinich announced in mid-September that the employees of the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Interior revealed a number of terrorist cells in 17 Russian provinces this year.
