Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed the need to eliminate the last hotbed of terrorism in Syria.
Speaking at a news conference after talks with his Iraqi counterpart Mohammed al-Hakim in Baghdad, Lavrov pointed to the need to provide the right atmosphere for the return of displaced Syrians to their areas and eliminate the last hotbeds of terrorism in Syria.
Lavrov said Moscow and Baghdad have a common approach to reducing tension in the Gulf region. “We have common positions on how to reduce tension in the Gulf region. ”.
For his part, Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim stressed the need to increase trade exchange between Iraq and Russia and return to the former era, pointing out that Iraq is looking forward to increase cooperation with Moscow in the fields of energy, security, oil and gas. These include military-technical cooperation, oil production, electric power, agriculture and irrigation, as well as cooperation in culture and science.
