The Cuban Ambassador to Damascus Miguel Porto Barga condemned in the strongest terms the aggression of the Turkish regime against Syria, pointing out that his country condemns any aggression aimed at the sovereignty, independence and unity of Syria.
The Cuban ambassador pointed out that the unjust US embargo imposed on his country (a unilateral act of aggression and a permanent threat to the stability of Cuba), pointing out that his country will present on the eighth of next month a draft resolution before the United Nations General Assembly condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba.
Porto Barga pointed out that the United Nations has already voted on the same draft resolution more than 27 times, stressing that his country will continue its struggle against imperialism, noting that the text of the resolution will defend Cuba's sovereignty and independence and expose Washington's attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of his country. The Cuban people, pointing out that the United States is practicing the same policies against the peoples of Syria and Venezuela in order to create economic crises causing shortages of medicines and food in order to put pressure on the governments of these countries to change their positions against attempts to dominate America.
Porto Barga affirmed the depth of the Cuban-Syrian friendship and the two countries share their supportive stances and confront them as one enemy and seek to develop their relations despite all the challenges, pointing to the popular rejection in the two friendly countries.
Since April last year, Washington has been tightening its aggressive policy against his country, he said, noting that the blockade causes daily losses to Cuba of $ 12 million, which means that the damage and losses over 60 years of the blockade are estimated at $ 922 billion.
The Cuban ambassador noted the achievements of his country despite the passage of six decades of siege, where Cuba has more than 50 universities and more than 750 thousand university students, and about 20,000 Cuban doctors provide free health services in 83 countries.
