Iran's state-run news agency told the state oil company that its oil tanker may have been attacked by missiles over the Red Sea.
According to the newsletter, an explosion occurred in an Iranian tanker in the Red Sea, about 100 km off Saudi Arabia's Jeddah port, early morning on the 11th. Two parts of the hull were damaged and the crude oil on the cargo leaked to the sea, but no one was injured. A tanker engineer says that there is a possibility of a terrorist attack.
According to AP, a spokesman for the Fifth Fleet of the US Navy commented that he “knows about the incident”. (Tehran = Shinya Sugisaki)
