Sweida-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida initially estimated the province's production of grape molasses during the current season at about 1400 tons.
The Assistant Director of Agriculture, Alaa Shuhaib, told SANA today that the process of manufacturing grape molasses for this season is through 21 presses between the traditional old and modern in addition to the resort of some farmers for the process of manual manufacturing of the product.
He pointed out that the molasses industry achieved value added compared to the sale of grapes directly and accounts for an average of about 13 percent of the crop production.
The grape molasses industry in Sweida is concentrated in the villages and towns of Arman, Qanawat, Sahwa al-Khader, Miamas, Kufr and Hebran.
