The General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing Centers started receiving the production of cotton crop after the distribution of the necessary solutions through the agricultural drains.The process of providing the early solutions to the farmers at a nominal price complements the efforts exerted to restore the strategic cotton crop to its natural position supporting the national economy.
The Director of Plant Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Abdul Mo'een Qadamani, explained to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the overall situation of the cotton crop is good compared to last season and insect injuries below the economic threshold, especially after the use of vital enemies produced in the Ministry's specialized laboratories to control cotton pests, which are distributed free of charge to farmers.
Qadamani pointed out that the percentage of the implementation of the area planned to be planted with cotton crop for the current season amounted to 45 percent, where 33285 hectares were planted out of the total plan of 73,680 hectares. 3075 hectares, milking 1366 hectares, while Hama came only 2 hectares.
As for the marketing of the crop, Qadamani explained that the process is proceeding at a good pace and is still in its beginning, where the marketed quantities of the mills amounted to 2266 tons distributed 1187 for Hamah ginses, 968 for Aleppo and 11 for chickpeas, these quantities included 1185 tons of Deir Ezzor and 5 tons of Raqqa.
He pointed out that production estimates are 90470 tons for the current season out of 291 thousand tons planned production, noting that the failure to implement the entire plan is due to sabotage of government irrigation networks in some areas and disrupt and sabotage most of the wells and being robbed from terrorist groups in hot areas and inadequate weather conditions due to precipitation There is a lot of rain after mid-April to mid-May in some areas, high prices for inputs such as transportation and competition for other more profitable summer crops.
