(CNN) - China has been showing a lot of new weapons lately, but one of its latest revelations really seems out of this world.
Called the "Super White Shark" by Chinese media, the aircraft evokes more images of science fiction films from the 50s than the technology of the 21st century. But China says the "armed helicopter" was designed for the "future battlefield of digital information."
The state tabloid Global Times published an image gallery of the aircraft, calling it a fusion of modern and proven helicopter designs, such as the AH-64 Apache Americans and the CH-53 Sea Stallion, as well as the Russian Ka-52 and Mi helicopters -26. It also has the combined wing design used by stealth aircraft, including the American B-2 bomber.

The White Super Shark is 7.6 meters long, almost 3 meters high and has space on board for two crew members. The schematic drawings show that its outer shell covers rotors and motors, which would presumably give the helicopter the ability to stealth because any acute angle would be covered, which would make radar detection difficult.
The prototype was exhibited last week at the China Helicopter Exhibition in Tianjin. It was just a static screen. The aircraft is on the ground, at least for now.
If it reaches the test flight stage, it would not be the first helicopter to take off inspired by UFOs.
