LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday his country and the European Union had reached a new agreement on Brexit and urged lawmakers to approve it early next week.
"We have reached a great new agreement to regain control," Johnson was quoted as saying in a tweet on Twitter. .
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Britain and the European Union had reached a new exit agreement.
"When there is a will, there is an agreement," he said. "We now have a fair and balanced agreement for the EU and the UK, which is proof of our commitment to finding solutions. I recommend the agreement at the EU summit."
The President of the European Council Donald Tusk announced yesterday that the foundations of an agreement on the process of Brexit Brexit is ready and could become a reality within hours.
London's latest proposal is for Northern Ireland to remain in the UK's customs territory, with duties to be levied on goods crossing the mainland from Britain to Northern Ireland if they are believed to continue on to Ireland and the European single market.
