Aoun said after meeting with Irish President Michael Higgins at Baabda Palace, we focused with the President of Ireland on the importance of finding political solutions to the crisis in Syria and the need to expedite finding a solution to the crisis of the displaced to contribute to their return to their homeland.

In another context, Aoun reiterated Lebanon's commitment to fully respect Resolution 1701, which calls for the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the territories it still occupies, while maintaining its legitimate right to self-defense, especially as Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty continue by land, sea and air.

Aoun pointed to the agreement between Lebanon and Ireland to activate bilateral relations at various levels and to develop mechanisms of cooperation between the two countries, especially in international forums to serve their common interests.

Higgins considered that one of the most important pillars of the bilateral relationship between the two countries is the Irish long-term commitment in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

For his part, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri discussed with the Irish President and the accompanying delegation bilateral relations between Lebanon and Ireland and the situation in the region.

During the meeting, Berri reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to Resolution 1701, pointing out that the international community, which participates with soldiers from more than 30 European, African and Asian countries in the UNIFIL forces, are witnesses to the aggression of Israel and its daily violation of Lebanon's sovereignty by land, sea, air and UN resolution 1701. .
