The start of the festival of products for rural women projects in Tishreen Park

Damascus, (SANA) - With the participation of 212 women and 12 specialized manufacturing units, a clown event was launched this evening in Tishreen Park in Damascus

With the participation of 212 women and 12 specialized manufacturing units, the activities of the Festival of Rural Women Projects were launched this evening in Tishreen Park in Damascus.

The festival aims at introducing and highlighting the products of rural women, opening a direct channel of communication between rural and consumer women and creating a competitive spirit among the products in terms of product quality, packaging and diversity.

The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Ahmed Al-Qadri, pointed out during the opening of the festival that the products of rural women enjoy government support manifested through a series of measures, starting from the promotion of family farming and then manufacturing and marketing of household products. Damascus, Quneitra, Aleppo and Hama, in addition to the halls that have been established in the past years in Lattakia.

For her part, Director of Rural Women Development Dr. Raeda Ayoub said that the number of participants in the festival reached 212 participants and 12 specialized manufacturing units, each unit includes 30 women, noting that the manufacturing units were set up in areas specialized in certain crops such as apples, cherries, dairy, cheese and aromatic plants.

For his part, the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Syria, Mike Robson, told SANA that FAO is training rural women in the manufacture and marketing of products and maintain their safety and how to improve their income, pointing out that the organization plans to provide production grants to improve the projects of rural women and increase their production.

Nabih Murad, Director of Aleppo Agriculture, confirmed that the Directorate has established a special market for the discharge of rural, animal, plant and handicraft products, which started to recover after the liberation of most of the Aleppo countryside and the return of women to production, indicating that five projects from Aleppo in this session of the exhibition.

For his part, Director of Homs Agriculture Eng. Nazih Al-Rifai said that the Directorate is involved in many products, including dairy, molasses of all kinds, vinegar and handicrafts, especially garments.

Participants stressed the importance of the exhibition in terms of introducing their products and trying to open new export windows to them and attract new customers and deliver a message to the whole world that Syria is steadfast and women are makers of glory and shine and that Syrian women are half of the productive society and influential in it.
