(CNN) - White House secretary general Mick Mulvaney announced during a White House press conference that the 2020 G7 summit will be held at Trump National in Doral, Florida, June 10-12 .

"We use the same set of criteria that previous administrations have used," Mulvaney said.

He said Doral was "by far the best physical facility for this meeting."

President Donald Trump will surely receive criticism and face questions about whether he will benefit financially from the great summit. Trump has received criticism in the past for receiving foreign leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, at his Mar-a-Lago golf club in Florida.

Doral has the best facilities of all sites under consideration, Mulvaney told reporters.

Mulvaney defended the decision by saying that Trump will not benefit in "any way."

He also acknowledged that he has heard claims that hosting the G7 there already generates profits by highlighting the resort.

"I heard that before ... I would simply ask everyone to consider the possibility that the Donald Trump brand is strong enough on its own," he said.

Mulvaney also defended the claims when asked what is the difference between this and Trump's accusations that Hunter Biden benefited from his father's name.

“First, there is no profit here. Clearly, there are gains with the Biden, ”Mulvaney said, adding:“ The Trump family made their money before entering politics, that's a big difference. ”

The president of the Judiciary of the House of Representatives, Jerry Nadler, said earlier that the commission would request White House documents to schedule September meetings to investigate the legality of a G7 in Doral.

“Organizing the G7 Summit in Doral implies the Clauses of Foreign and Domestic Emoluments, since it would imply expenses of both the foreign government and the United States government to benefit the president, the latter potentially including both federal and state expenses. More importantly, Doral's decision reflects perhaps the first publicly known instance in which foreign governments would be required to pay President Trump's private business to conduct business with the United States, ”said Nadler.

The former director of the Ethics Office of the White House Government, Walter Shaub, told CNN when the idea came up in August that holding the meeting in Doral would be a conflict of interest.

“This is a conflict of interest because you will benefit from the result of this. In fact, if I were a federal employee other than the president of the United States, it would be a crime to participate in this activity, ”Shaub said. "It is exempt from the criminal conflict of interest law, but that was not meant to be a benefit of the senior office and was expected to act as if it were covered by it."

When asked, Mulvaney said "climate change will not be on the agenda" for next year's G7 summit.

Trump skipped an important climate change meeting at the G7 in Biarritz, France, this year because, according to the White House, he had a scheduling conflict due to separate meetings with the leaders of Germany and India.

Both leaders arrived at the meeting on climate change.

Mulvaney also said the administration will "continue to review" whether Russia should attend and will make the decision at a "later" date.

Trump raised the idea of formally inviting Russia to return to the G7 at the most recent summit in Biarritz, France, but other leaders rejected his suggestion. The leaders argued that Russia should not be readmitted until its annexation of Crimea in Ukraine ends.

Mulvaney said Trump has the authority to invite President Vladimir Putin to attend, even if the G7 members do not agree to invite Russia again as a full member.

CNN's Allie Malloy and Sarah Westwood contributed to this report.
