The Permanent Representative of Syria to the United Nations, Ambassador Bashar Jaafari, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, as a non-resident Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Ambassador Jaafari conveyed to President Ortega during his meeting at the People's Palace in the capital Managua the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad and his appreciation for the positions of President Ortega and the friendly people of Nicaragua at the bilateral and international levels, expressing the solidarity of the Syrian leadership and people with Nicaragua in the face of foreign plots.

For his part, President Ortega conveyed a message of solidarity to President al-Assad and the friendly Syrian people, pointing out that what the two countries face is one enemy but in various forms, stressing his keenness to strengthen ties of cooperation between the two countries to serve the two friendly peoples.

In a speech following the presentation of credentials of a number of ambassadors, including Ambassador Jaafari, President Ortega stressed that Syria's struggle has resulted in a victory that is now closer than ever, condemning the US interventionist and aggressive policy against his country and other Latin American countries.

A day before the ceremony, Ambassador Jaafari presented a copy of his credentials to Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Denis Moncada at the Foreign Ministry and met with President of the National Assembly of Nicaragua Gustavo Paras Gortes and Head of the Parliamentary International Relations Department Georgina Kimana Acosta.
