Homs-Sana
Academic engineers from the Heritage Committee of the Homs Branch of the Engineers Association are training and equipping a cadre specialized in archaeological buildings in the field of documentation and damage assessment.
In a meeting with SANA, Amer Al-Sibai, head of the union's heritage committee, pointed out that the branch is working to increase the qualification of a cadre specialized in archaeological buildings through special courses that include field visits to identify the risks of damage caused by the terrorist war or natural factors.
In turn, Ghassan Janair, a consultant of studies working in the field of ancient and archaeological buildings, said that the course was concerned with inventorying buildings that were damaged by the war with the old ones and documenting them in general and the damage to the building, whether cracking a stone or grass or plants between stones or lack of and so on.
Eng. Batoul Issa from the Tartous Engineers' Syndicate explained that the aim of the training program is to enhance the protection and defense of antiquities.
The courses, according to Issa, include the needs for restoration and provide a full briefing on the ways of documentation and dealing with each damage because each building has its own strategy for dealing.
