Damascus-Sana
The Ministry of Transport announced today the launch of two additional flights from Damascus Airport to Beirut Airport and vice versa to facilitate the movement of Syrians wishing to return from Lebanon.
In a statement received by SANA, the ministry explained that the first flight will be scheduled for Tuesday and will take off from Damascus at 11 pm and return from Beirut at 1 am and the second flight on Friday will depart from Damascus at 6 am and return from Beirut at 9 am.
Suleiman Khalil, director of readiness at the Ministry of Transport, said that due to the difficult conditions experienced by Syrian passengers in arriving and leaving Beirut airport because of the protesters' blocking of the Beirut airport road, the Ministry of Transport decided to run the two flights.
On Thursday, the Lebanese began their sit-ins and protests over the deteriorating economic situation in the country and the Lebanese cabinet's decisions to impose new fees, including charges for communications.
