A group of Salvadorans who are engaged in construction in the Washington metropolitan area, and who are beneficiaries of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program, are afraid of being deported when their permit expires on 2 January 2020. The type of work offered by these Salvadorans is essential in the construction of infrastructure in the capital of the country, some of them have had the TPS for almost two decades in which they have built bridges, federal buildings, gas pipelines, lines Metro, among other works.
