BEIRUT (Reuters) - Lebanese President General Michel Aoun on Wednesday called on the outgoing government to continue to conduct business in the country pending a new government.
The Lebanese National News Agency (ANA) said that Aoun asked the outgoing government to continue the caretaker business in accordance with the provisions of Article 69 of the Lebanese constitution regarding the cases in which the government is considered resigned.
Saad Hariri submitted his resignation from the premiership to the Lebanese president yesterday following the popular demonstrations that have been going on for 14 days to protest against the deteriorating living conditions.
