Cotton is a source of income for a wide segment of peasants and is one of the most important commodities exported, spun, yarn and woven, and enjoys the attention and support of the concerned authorities to return it to its natural location through several measures, most recently support the purchase price and the opening of new receiving centers.
Director General of Cotton Ginning and Marketing Organization Zaher Al-Attal confirmed to SANA Economic Bulletin that the Corporation has prepared 8 receiving centers for marketing cotton crop from farmers, four of which are in Hama governorate and a center in Homs, Aleppo, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor. Rehabilitation of a number of gins will work to receive the beloved cotton from farmers in all cotton producing governorates.
The porter pointed out that under the new price was raised the price per kilogram 10 pounds from last season to become 360 pounds, which encourages cotton farmers to deliver their crop to the institution and secure the quantities necessary for the continuation of the work of the Cotton Foundation and provide the needs of the public and private sectors of the articles of ginning cotton and seeds to companies Yarn and oils indicating that the expected production of ginning cotton covers the need of the local market.
The porter said that the Ministry of Finance will bear 60 pounds of the official price for each kilo of cotton delivered by farmers this season, which contributes to reduce the costs of production inputs of the institution and increase the competitiveness of its products in the local market and direct the government support in a way that suits the high production costs, pointing out that the values will be disbursed Cottons for farmers as of Thursday.
For his part, Director of Plant Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Abdul Moeen Qadamani said in a similar statement that the overall situation of cotton crop is good and insect injuries are few and do not pose a threat to production, pointing out the marketing of 14 thousand tons of cotton to the plants, an increase of about 1000 tons over the same period last year. 11580 tons to Hama Gins, 1960 tons to Aleppo and 500 tons to Homs.
Qadamani explained that the quantities received came from Al-Hasakah with 8862 tons and then Raqqa with 3970 tons.
Production estimates for the current season exceed 95,000.
