The Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General to Syria, Geir Pederson, stressed that the start of the work of the constitutional discussion committee is an important step to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria according to UN resolution 2254.
Speaking at the opening of the constitutional debate committee in Geneva, Pederson said the commission's work must be committed to respecting Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
Pederson said the constitution belongs only to the Syrian people, who decide the future of their country.
