Syria and Iran discuss cooperation in electricity sector

Minister of Electricity Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli discussed with Hassan Danaee Far, Advisor to the First Vice President of Iran and Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Syrian-Iranian-Iraqi Economic Relations, the fields of bilateral cooperation in the field of electrical sector and projects implemented by Iranian companies in Syria.

During the talks, Kharboutli stressed the need to work hard to push bilateral cooperation in the field of electrical sector to the level of distinguished political relations between the two countries and in accordance with the requirements of the current and future stage and to strengthen the electricity system in Syria.

Kharboutli pointed out the importance of implementing the Lattakia power plant project in addition to the rehabilitation of the first and fifth groups of the Aleppo thermal power station within the specified time limits, pointing to the need to maintain the work of the gas station generating gas through the supply of spare parts and speed up the implementation of strategic projects related to the electric field.

Kharboutli stressed the importance of the electrical link between Iran, Iraq and Syria for the benefit of the three countries in the energy exchange, stressing the importance of establishing joint companies in the field of electrical industry to meet the Syrian market and its requirements.

For his part, Danaee fled to the potential enjoyed by Iran in the field of the electrical sector, stressing the full readiness to cooperate with the Syrian side in this regard and reflected positively on the two countries and their common interests.

Minister Kharboutli also discussed with Ali Abadi, the director of the Iranian Mabna Company the technical, legal and financial frameworks of the projects implemented by the company in Syria and the need to complete them within the deadlines set for improving the electrical sector system in Syria, pointing out the importance of Lattakia power plant and related projects as well as Lattakia conversion station and the possibility of implementing it. Before the company.

For his part, Abadi stressed the full readiness to cooperate with the Ministry of Electricity in Syria with various previous projects under implementation and future and joint work to find new joint production projects that serve the two friendly countries and peoples and serve the reconstruction phase in Syria.

The meetings were attended by Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Dr. Adnan Mahmoud.
