Despite anti-Semitic writings: AfD politician Gedeon may continue to party

2019-10-31T15:28:56.724Z

For the second time, the AfD has tried to exclude the Baden-Württemberg state parliament delegate Wolfgang Gedeon. The party failed - the state arbitration Schleswig-Holstein decided against it.

Wolfgang Gedeon may remain a member of the AfD, so it has decided the state arbitration Schleswig -Holstein. A party exclusion against the authors of anti-Semitic texts has failed again. The State Court of Schleswig-Holstein said that it had dismissed the motion of the Federal Executive Board as partly inadmissible and in part unfounded.

The allegations that Gedeon had commented racially on the occasion of a parliamentary debate as a deputy, the court said it claims to be inconclusive. In March of this year he said in the Stuttgart Landtag: "Colonialism is a sign that the European white race was far superior to other peoples and ethnic groups in terms of civilization."

The further allegation that Gedeon had not paid his mandate-holder fees to the party, it looked as not sufficiently substantiated, "so that Dr. Gedeon remains a member of the alternative for Germany."

Party executive wants to go "if necessary through all civil law" instances

The Baden-Wuerttemberg Arbitration Court had declared in the case "because of friendly relations with Dr. Gedeon" as biased, why the matter fell to the arbitral tribunal in Schleswig-Holstein. The AFD Federal Council advises on next Monday the further procedure. "We will go through all civil law instances, if necessary, to exclude Mr. Gedeon from the party," it said in a joint statement by the two AFD chairmen Jörg Meuthen and Alexander Gauland.

They reminded of the case of the former Schleswig-Holstein AfD Landeschefin Doris von Sayn-Wittgenstein. She was initially suspected of contacts with an extreme right-wing organization has not been excluded from the Schleswig-Holstein AfD Arbitration Court. As a result, the AFD federal executive had called the Federal Arbitration Court of the party as the highest instance. Sayn-Wittgenstein finally expelled the party court at the end of August for party-damaging behavior.

A party exclusion failed once before

Gedeon is controversial in the AfD. The Baden-Württemberg provincial board had also sought the party exclusion against Gedeon for anti-Semitism - the state arbitration court in the southwest dismissed the application but for formal reasons.

In addition, for opinions of party members a "wider tolerance frame" than for members of other clubs, it was said at that time. The anti-Semitic passages in Gedeon's books such as "Green Communism and the Dictatorship of Minorities" are obvious. Thus he describes Judaism as the historical "inner enemy" of the West. He accuses the Jews of working on a "slavery of humanity".

The AfD Federal Executive had spoken out in October 2018 for a new party exclusion Gedeon. He is currently sitting as a non-attached MP in Parliament and triggers with his speeches again and again outrage.
