(CNN Spanish) - More than 300 agents responded to a confrontation between inmates inside the Morelos Social Reintegration Center in Mexico, which left six inmates dead on Wednesday, the State Public Safety Commission reported.

According to the Government of Morelos, the riot broke out on Wednesday morning. Four agents of the security and prison custody personnel were retained by the inmates, so the state government activated the security protocols to resume control of the prison.

“In coordination with the federal forces, a group of 115 elements of the National Guard and 120 of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), installed a perimeter safety belt. On the part of the CES, a perimeter belt was also installed inside the penitentiary center, ”the State Public Safety Commission said in a statement.
