Syrian students in Havana celebrate the anniversary of the Ilam School of Medicine

The Latin American School of Medicine (Ilam) celebrated its twentieth birthday in the presence of Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel and with the distinguished participation of our students studying at the university.

In a later meeting with the Syrian Ambassador to Cuba, Dr. Idris Mia, the Syrian students renewed the pledge to remain loyal soldiers to the homeland and the leader of the country, noting that they always seek to clarify the reality of the blind terrorism to which Syria is exposed and highlight the enormous sacrifices made by the Syrian Arab Army in confronting terrorist organizations.

For his part, Ambassador Mia stressed the need to give all the importance and attention to the issue of educational attainment and gain knowledge and experience and achieve excellence in the universities where they study.

Ilam University is one of the most important scientific edifices on the continent of Latin America and the Third World. It was founded in 1999 by Cuban leader Fidel Castro and teaches about 5,000 students from 82 countries.
