(CNN Spanish) - Migration announces temporary closure of all land and river border crossings with Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela to "guarantee full normality in the development of the marches" on Thursday.
Colombia will close all its land and river border crossings with Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela, from midnight on Wednesday until 05:00 on Friday, November 22, according to a statement issued Tuesday by Migration Colombia.
"The measure, which will be applied in 12 Migration Control Posts, is made in order to guarantee total normality in the development of the marches that will be carried out in different regions of the country next Thursday, November 21," the statement said.
"We will continue with the verification processes that are being carried out in the different regions, in order to ensure that foreigners participating in the marches do so in accordance with the provisions of our Constitution, that is to say in a peaceful manner," the statement added Migration
The announcement is given less than 48 hours of a protest against the government of Iván Duque by various trade union organizations, students and teachers, indigenous people and other social and political sectors.
