Minister of Communications and Technology Iyad Al-Khatib inspected the telephone centers in the liberated areas in the northern countryside of Hama governorate and the needs of rehabilitation and consecutive service to meet the needs of citizens returning to those areas.
The Minister pointed out during a tour to Souran and Taibah Al-Imam city in Hama northern countryside that he will be following the rehabilitation and renovation of the Souran telephone center and re-equipping it with the necessary equipment for the return of telephone service in the next few months. Thebes Imam, who has also been subjected to major terrorist attacks during the past period.
For his part, Eng. Munib al-Asfar, director of the General Telecom Company branch in Hama, told SANA that the percentage of damage to the Souran phone center as a result of terrorist attacks during their control of the area amounted to 80 percent. An ambulance plan for rehabilitation of the center and telephone networks was approved for 46 million Syrian pounds. .
He added that the rate of completion of the rehabilitation of the center is currently 60 percent and is expected to be completed within the next two months and put into service in early 2020 according to the latest technology.
It is noteworthy that the phone center Souran was looted and vandalized by terrorist organizations with a capacity of 10,000 telephone lines.
During his meeting with the workers in the communications and postal sector in Hama, Minister Al-Khatib listened to a presentation on the reality of the work and its difficulties and ways to improve it, the quality of service delivery and the needs of telephone centers that have been sabotaged by terrorist acts and theft of their contents and the requirements to return to work.
The tour was attended by Hama Governor Mohammad Al-Hazouri, Syrian Telecommunications Company Manager Munir Obaid and Syrian Post Corporation Director Hayan Maqsoud.
