Serouj power plant, located northeast of Salmiya in Hama countryside, has been put into service after its maintenance and rehabilitation. Its equipment has been looted and vandalized by terrorist organizations during the past period.
The 20-megawatt power plant feeds dozens of areas and villages in the eastern countryside, as well as contributing to the stability and support of the electrical system.
For his part, Engineer Ahmed Makkawi, Director of the Central Region for the transmission of electricity, said that engineers, technicians and workers from the branch and Hama Electricity Company have carried out the rehabilitation works of the whole plant, pointing out its contribution to ensure the stability of electricity and relieve pressure from other electrical stations in the region.
A number of people in the region expressed their happiness to put the station into service, which will provide electricity to more than 60 villages, some of which suffer from the lack of electricity service completely and others from the instability of the electrical network.
