Celle: Investigations against right-wing extremist party for sedition

2019-11-25T13:59:04.138Z

An anti-Semitic poster claim of the party "The Rights" is not covered by the freedom of expression. The prosecutor in Celle is convinced of this.

A nationwide criticized election poster may have legal consequences for "The Rights": The Attorney General Celle has launched an investigation into the right-wing extremist party on suspicion of sedition. It assesses the wording used in the European elections "Israel is our misfortune" as a mere modification of the hate slogan propagated in the Nazi period "Jews are our misfortune," said the prosecution.

The term "Israel" is used as a cover for the spreading of anti-Semitism and hatred of the Jews. The poster is directed against the Jewish population. This is not covered by the freedom of expression.

With this argument, the Higher Administrative Court in North Rhine-Westphalia has already confirmed the prohibition of the poster, the Attorney General's Office emphasized. The poster had been suitable to give the impression of a threat by the Jewish population living in Germany in particular.

Basin of Neo-Nazis

The small party "Die Rechte", which was monitored by the German intelligence service, was founded in 2012. It is considered a reservoir of neo-Nazis, which come from forbidden comradeships.

With the beginning of the investigation against those responsible for the right-wing extremist party, the prosecution in Celle filed a complaint of the German-Israeli Society of Hanover and others, thereby amending a decision of the Hanover Public Prosecutor's Office.

Only a few months ago, the Dortmund police searched premises of the party and a private apartment. Among other things, was investigated against the Federal Managing Director Michael Brück. A spokeswoman for the prosecution said it had been falsely supporters signatures on lists for the European elections falsified.
