The Heads of State of the Collective Security Treaty Organization stressed the need to work together to strengthen international and regional security on the basis of compliance with the norms and principles of international law.
In a final statement issued after a meeting of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, Sputnik quoted excerpts of the speech as saying: The potential for conflicts in different parts of the world. ”
"The world is witnessing an increasing deterioration and weakness in the structure of arms control that has lasted for decades," the leaders said in their statement. "There is a real possibility that an arms race in space will be launched into a military confrontation arena."
The statement pointed to the increase in the number of hotspots and areas of conflict that could lead to further escalation in the global situation, pointing out that the situation in various regions such as the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf remains a potential source of threats to international security.
"Under these circumstances, we reaffirm the need to develop interaction and cooperation at the level of the international community as a whole to enhance international and regional security on the basis of compliance with the norms and principles of international law and, above all, the Charter of the United Nations," it said.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the countries of the Collective Security Treaty to work together in the fight against terrorism.
