Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Gholamhossein Dehghani stressed the need to implement all the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention without discrimination.
"It is essential to implement without distinction all the provisions of the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the obligation of the treaty states to exchange chemical materials and equipment for uses," Dehghani said in a statement during a meeting with the Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Fernando Arias, in The Hague. And the removal of obstacles to trade and non-imposition of economic embargo among Member States.
Dehghani pointed to the US actions in resorting to economic terrorism against Iran, pointing out the extent of its impact on the provision of drugs and equipment for the disabled chemical weapons as well as the provision of raw materials for the production of some medicines, stressing that this is contrary to Washington's obligations.
Dehghani stressed the need to abide by the rule of consensus in making decisions in the organizations concerned to ban weapons of mass destruction.
