Since the beginning of this month, the Directorate of Health Affairs in Damascus governorate has organized 660 seizures against shop owners who violate health conditions, closed 55 stores, issued 30 warnings to shop owners who need to complete health deficiencies, handled many complaints and withdrew dozens of samples of food items for analysis.
Dr. Shadi Khallouf, director of health affairs in the governorate, told SANA that health monitoring patrols are intensifying their presence in the markets and foodstuff selling places, organizing seizures and warnings against violators, damaging materials that are not suitable for human consumption, and drawing samples of foodstuffs to conduct the necessary analyzes and making sure they comply with the required specifications.
Khallouf explained that the Directorate cooperates and coordinates with the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection to conduct joint field tours in the markets and to address any complaint received from citizens.
