Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said that achieving the interests of the people is an easy goal, pointing out that the government has done its utmost to respond to the demands of the demonstrators and to introduce reform packages.

He pointed out during a special session held by the Council of Ministers today to present the subject of the resignation of the government and submitted to the House of Representatives to the complex circumstances during which the government was formed and the challenges faced and achievements in the past period at the internal level and external relations.

A statement by the Council of Ministers that Abdul-Mahdi called on the House of Representatives to find appropriate solutions at its next session and also called on members of the government to continue their work until the formation of the new government.

According to the statement, the cabinet agreed at the end of the extraordinary session to resign the Director of the Office of the Prime Minister Abu Jihad al-Hashemi and the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Hamid al-Ghazi.

The Iraqi Prime Minister announced yesterday his intention to submit an official letter to the House of Representatives requesting his resignation.

There are demonstrations in many areas of Iraq demanding improvement of the living situation, while warning against the exploitation of these demonstrations and the demands of the rightful protesters by some engineers trying to abuse the peaceful demonstration and the security forces charged with the protection of peaceful demonstrators.
