More than two weeks after the killing of a senior Islamic Jihad commander in the Gaza Strip by Israel, the situation remains tense. After a rocket was fired from the Palestinian Territory on three consecutive days, the Israeli Air Force attacked alleged positions of radical Islamic Palestinians on Friday night. A fighter jet bombed a base of Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip, the army said.
The Israeli forces killed a senior air strike on 12th November, killing high-ranking jihadist Baha Abu Al-Ata in the Gaza Strip. The Islamic Jihad and Gaza-ruling Hamas militia then announced retaliation, with an escalation of violence between the two sides, killing 36 Palestinians. Meanwhile, there is actually a ceasefire brokered by Egypt and the UN, but it is often broken.
