Tehran-Sana
The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi, said uranium enrichment would continue at the Fordow facility as the United States resumed its ban on the nuclear plant.
"We had 2,000 centrifuges in Fordow and after the nuclear talks we were reduced to 1,044," Salehi said in a statement today.
"Because of the Europeans' reneging on their commitments, uranium enrichment has been resumed and if the Europeans fail to fulfill their commitments, we will continue enrichment at the facility," he said.
Regarding the uproar caused by foreign media about Iran's ban on a member of the international inspectors team, Salehi said that “inspectors generally enjoy diplomatic immunity such as ambassadors during their duties and when IAEA inspectors want to enter Iranian sites they are inspected and this is normal when Visiting nuclear facilities around the world, ”he said, adding that one of the IAEA inspectors was carrying suspicious material and other things that were documented, photographed and eventually recorded and filed a protest with the IAEA.
Earlier this month, the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization announced that Iran would begin enriching uranium at the Fordow facility in implementation of the fourth step of reducing its nuclear obligations in accordance with the nuclear agreement and under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
