London-Sana
LONDON (Reuters) - Opposition Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has said he would halt arms sales to the Saudi regime for use in the war on Yemen if his party wins parliamentary elections this month.
"He will stop arms sales to Saudi Arabia intended for use in Yemen and end the war there," Corbin said in a speech in York on Tuesday, outlining the foreign policy goals of the Labor Party.
He explained that the international policy of the party includes the establishment of a fund to prevent conflicts and invest £ 400 million equivalent ($ 513 million) additional to strengthen the country's diplomatic capabilities and increased control over arms exports to ensure that they do not participate in fueling wars and conflicts, as in Yemen and the Palestinian territories.
Britain's parliamentary elections are due to be held on June 12 and both the Conservative Party and the opposition Labor Party are seeking to attract more votes by offering different visions of the country's future and pledging to increase spending.
The elections are being held after three years of negotiations with the European Union on Brexit, and for the first time will show the extent of the political divide caused by the exit issue.
